Flap wheels in Grit p60

Replacement flap strips in grit P60 come as 28-strip sets for the re-flappable QuickWood hub. Pick your flap height below (45mm standard or 65mm tall), then choose width and grit on the product page — every grit from P60 to P320 is in stock.

When to use P60 flap strips

P60 is the coarsest grit in the range and the one to load when material has to come off: stripping paint or varnish from shaped parts, knocking down heavy machine marks, and reshaping edges. It cuts fast, so keep the wheel moving and let the flap tips work — parking a P60 wheel in one spot on softwood will dig. On a sealed or finished surface P60 has no business at all; it is a raw-wood and strip-work grit.

After P60

Follow the no-skip rule: step to P80 or P100 next rather than jumping straight to a fine grit, or the P60 scratch pattern will telegraph through your finish. Most stripping jobs run P60 → P100 → P150 before stain.

Fitting these strips

Each set is 28 strips for the re-flappable QuickWood hub, in your choice of 45mm standard trim or 65mm tall trim — choose 65mm when the profile you are stripping runs deeper than about 1.5 inches, a large ogee or crown for example. Swapping a set takes minutes, so many shops keep one hub loaded with P60 for strip days and a second hub in a finishing grit. Full project-by-project guidance is in the grit guide.
