When to use P240 flap strips
P240 is the between-coats specialist: after sealer or the first finish coat has dried, a light P240 pass knocks down raised grain and dust nibs and leaves a surface the next coat can bond to — without cutting through on profile crowns the way a hard pad does. This is the grit that makes brush sanding worth having in a finishing room.
Choosing between P240 and its neighbors
Under lacquer and oil finishes, P180 to P240 covers the between-coats work; under thin waterborne finishes reach for P240 to P320. Pressure matters more than grit here: let the flap tips flick across the surface — leaning in folds the flaps and burnishes instead of cutting.
