Sanding drums
About QuickWood pneumatic sanding drums
QuickWood pneumatic sanding drums are inflatable rubber drums wrapped in an abrasive sleeve. Air pressure sets the firmness, so the drum can be soft for contours or firm for flatter faces — making them well suited to bowls, curved rails, and convex shapes where a flap wheel would be too aggressive.
Several sizes are available with a 30mm bore. The QW4 150x230 listed above is one option in the range; the air tools page describes the full lineup including smaller and larger QW4 bodies as well as the handled QW6.
How does a pneumatic sanding drum differ from a flap wheel?
A pneumatic sanding drum uses an inflatable rubber body and abrasive sleeve; air pressure controls firmness so it can conform to curves. A flap wheel uses strips of abrasive and suits flatter or lightly profiled surfaces. The air tools page notes that sanding drums excel at bowls, curved rails, and convex shapes where a flap wheel is too aggressive.
