Which grit should I order for machine deburring of laser-cut steel?
Both 12" and 14" discs are stocked in five grits: P120, P150, P180, P240, and P320. P120 is the standard starting point for breaking sharp burrs and dross on laser-cut or sheared edges. Finer grits such as P180 to P320 are used for a smoother finish pass or when a consistent edge radius is needed for powder coating adhesion.
How do I set the working width on my deburring machine?
Stack the discs on the machine arbor and use 32mm or 50mm spacers to set the gap between discs. Tighter spacing gives more aggressive edge-breaking on straight profiles; wider spacing lets the discs flex for contoured parts and softer, uniform radii. Re-gapping takes only minutes, so many shops tune the stack per job.
When should I choose 14" discs over 12"?
The 14" disc offers more rim speed and more reach per revolution, which suits larger laser-cut parts and machines set up for wider working envelopes. If the machine and parts do not require the extra diameter, the 12" discs are the default choice.
